Lent and the Hoodoo Tarot Reader

People assume that because I believe in Tarot Cards, that I'm not a Christian.  WOW!!!!  I was even called a witch today, by a co-worker because I told him I believed that Friday the 13th was a lucky day.  Hoodoo is not witchcraft. Which, let me state, there is nothing wrong with witchcraft.  I just do not consider myself a witch, wiccan, pagan, etc.  Mainly, because I do believe in Jesus and I consider myself an Episcopalian Hoodoo Tarot Reader.  Say that 5 times fast....LOL

So anyway, Lent is just around the corner. I've been thinking about what to sacrifice.  Most of the time I do the usual, no caffeine, no cussing/cursing, and I cover my hair to all men not in my immediate family.  However, I'm thinking about volunteering 1 or 2 days a week at a nursing home.  My only hesitation is that I'm afraid someone I may get close to, will pass to the other side while I'm fulfilling my sacrifice for Lent.  Then again, maybe that's the lesson.

"Turbulence" By Bowling for Soup

And we're all just passengers tonight,
And we're all just travel'in through our lives,
We will reach our destination,
So just hang on and enjoy the ride,
Say a prayer and close your eyes........

Imbolc 2015 Tarot Blog Hop LOVERS BEWARE OR GO BARE

Lovers Beware or Go Bare

Happy Hopping bloggers, either you've reached me via Chloe from Celtic Lenormond's blog or Lyns blog.

Our wonderful Tarot Blog Hop wrangler, Karen Sealey of Pure & Blessed Tarot, has chosen "Oracular Anomalies" for the Imbolc/Midwinter Blog Hop. For those of you new to the blog hop, just click on the Previous/Master List/Next links above to move through the blog hop. If you get lost, just click on "Master List" to go to the main listing of blog urls. These links are also located at the bottom of this page. Happy Hopping!!!!

I hope you like my snazzy title. Yes, Yes, it's just a teaser title to get you to read past the tarot blog hop instructions.

I don't know about you, but when I get a new tarot deck, The Lovers card, is one of the first cards I look forward to seeing. I like to perceive how the artist has portrayed the embodiment of passion, love, bliss, sexuality....Blah, Blah, Blah....but are they naked!!!??? This statement said with a very southern drawl so that "naked" sounds like "neck-id".  No, that's not the real reason I have an odd reaction to The Lovers card as the Universe is my witness (as I move to the other end of the couch due to the sound of thunder overhead).

The real reason is, I get the giggles over how the "Angel" is depicted.  I can't help but think of the red-orange, flames for hair, Heat miser, a character from the Rankin Bass 1974 children's television special "A Year Without a Santa Claus".  It cracks me up every time.

If I'm doing a reading for a client and this cards rears its "The roof, the roof, the roof is on fire..." head, I literally have to bite the inside of my mouth and tighten my butt cheeks to keep from laughing. Okay, so you be the judge:

To find out the root cause as to why The Lovers card has this effect on me, I've created a small three card spread.

1-Why does The Lovers card make me laugh?
2-How can I overcome this affliction?
3-Outcome (will I be successful)

Shuffle, Shuffle, Shuffle, Cut, and Draw

1-The Fool (I should have seen this one coming. Okay, so yes, I have a stupid sense of humor that can, at times, be foolish and childish.)
2-Queen of Swords (What? Really? So I take this to mean I need to grow up and ditch my sense of humor. Damn:( )
3-10 of Wands (If I work hard, I will eventually be successful. However, that's not gonna happen.)

Apparently, stupid is, as stupid does. I'm happy that way:)
